Choosing the right job

Things to consider when choosing the right job for you.

Its important to find a job that suits you. Choosing a job is one of the most important decisions you will make. Depending on where you are in your career path, you may already have a good idea of what you like to do. You can also get professional advice in selecting a job that is appropriate for you.  As we travel through different jobs in our lives there can be other factors to consider:

Salary level

Although we would all love to run off and do our dream job, we still have to consider what we’re going to earn. When choosing a job you may want to consider what you want to earn? What can you afford to live on?

Working pattern

You may need to consider the working patterns of different jobs. For example, most retail jobs will involve working the weekends and during the holidays – this is usually their busiest time. Could you do shift work? Not everyone is suited to working at night. May be you have family commitments and need to think about childcare or flexible/part-time work? The way in which you work will contribute to your job satisfaction.

Locality

Again, another thing to consider is WHERE you want to work? Do you want to commute? Or do you want to move? With the rising price of fuel can you afford to travel? Or maybe depending on the local job market, can you afford not to? You may want to work locally because of family and friends but again, this needs consideration when choosing a job.
